How it Works
When the user creates a new Office document (Word, Excel, Powerpoint) they are shown a dialog displaying various data classification options. The user selects one of these options. Depending on the configuration, the chosen classification is written to the File Properties, Watermark, header or footer.
This classification remains with the document over its lifetime. Decisions can be made based on this classification. For example, a rule might be put in place on the corporate email infrastructure that prevents certain documents from being sent as email attachments. Also documents with certain classifications may only be stored in certain places.
